Southampton Preston game laid over due to fire near Colosseum

Southampton Preston game | Championship clash with Preston North End was laid over on Wednesday after a fire broke out in a structure next to St Mary’s Stadium, club officers said.

Original authorities and exigency services were consulted before the decision was made, the club added.

“The decision was made after discussion with the original authorities and exigency services after a major fire broke out in a structure next to the St Mary’s Stadium point before moment,” a club statement read.

“The incident has caused significant dislocation in the area with road closures around the colosseum still in place as fire crews continue to deal with the situation.

“We’re thankful for the cooperation of Preston and the EFL, and while we appreciate the disappointment suckers may feel, we hope they will understand the need to put the safety of sympathizers and staff of both clubs first.

“All tickets for tonight’s match will be valid for the rearranged institution.”

Southampton are fourth in the Championship, while Preston are ninth.
